Good afternoon, everyone!
Well, it has been quite some time since I sat at this keyboard and decided to get a blog post up. I really need to get better at this whole blogging thing. It really is something I enjoy, but you all know how it is.. Life get’s in the way and sometimes it’s just not possible to get creative.
I decided my first post back would be something on my Play! by Sephora box that I got this weekend. Let’s dive right in!
First up is the Urban Decay Perversion mascara. I’ve gotten this before in the past and, although I wasn’t so impressed by the past sample I had, I was still excited to give this another whirl. A lot of people rave about it, but I can’t let go of my current favorite – The Super Sizer by Lashblast Mascara.
The bristles are really nice on this wand, in my opinion. When you remove the wand out of the tube, a lot of the product gets cleaned off right before removal. I always tend to wipe off the excess at the tip of the brush with any mascaras and I found that this one isn’t any different.
This is a really, really pretty and pigmented shade from Make Up For Ever. I’ll admit that I don’t have any Make Up For Ever products in my stash, though I’ve heard great things about their foundation! This shade feels a bit sandy at first, but once you swatch it on your hand the payoff is absolutely gorgeous. It’s described as an iridescent pink granite shadow made with a unique gel-powder formula and ultrafine pigments for smooth color. I am so stoked to put this to the test!
Okay, this might be just a bit TOO creamy. I just can’t see how this is going to give you a 12 hour wear time. I’m definitely going to have to put this to the test. When I went to swatch the shade, I actually broke off the tip of it because I pressed down too hard. Yeah, that’s not needed, clearly! For me, the shade is just okay. I very rarely wear an eye pencil to begin with, but we’ll see what this can do!
So, as you can see the Make Up For Ever shadow will be an absolutely beautiful iridescent base color. This will work beautifully for the up coming fall season! The pencil is much of the same. I think I could do a great smoked out look with this – though, I’m still a bit on the fence with the 24HR wear time.
Sephora has this described as “An innovative, natural eye balm with a breakthrough patent to lift and smooth the areas around the eyes and lips.”
I think it’s cool you can use this around your lips. Without trying it out, I don’t have much to offer. I did dab a small amount on my hand and smooth it around. It is extremely moisturizing and has no scent!
Sephora describes this as “An energizing antioxidant liquid moisturizer that refreshes, protects, and hydrates tired skin for an instant dewy glow.” This is my kind of moisturizer! I have extremely dry skin – even in the summer when it’s 90 degrees and humid. Anything that dries to a matte finish such as moisturizers, primers or foundations will leave me with parched and patchy skin. No, thank you! I am really looking forward to trying this out!
The final item in this months box is this perfume. I’m not great at describing perfumes or body sprays. I just can’t do it. I do know that I like it and I’ll probably wear it until it runs out. I won’t be purchasing the full size of it, though.
There you have it! This months box! So far, this is my favorite beauty subscription box that I’ve gotten. It’s affordable and the products are always high end. Most of the items I have gotten stem from brands that I have wanted to try, but just haven’t for some reason. I think I might end up getting a Birchbox Subscription eventually, but that’s a whole nother blog post.
Happy Sunday, all! I hope your weekend was phenomenal!
