Hey everyone and Happy Easter!
It’s been well over a week since I’ve written anything – literally no explanation for it – I just haven’t written!
My 31st birthday came and went yesterday. My boyfriend and I had a lovely time in Newport, RI. It’s the first time either of us has been there and it was definitely an experience. Unfortunately, it rained quite a bit the second day we were there, but our activity planned for that day was to tour the Newport Mansions. Have any of you ever done that before? It was an absolute blast. A couple of the food places we tried out were incredible. Missions (a hot dog and burger joint) made the *best* hot dog I’ve ever had. Awesome spot if you happen to be in the area.
Surprisingly, I didn’t touch makeup the entire time I was in Newport. I brought all my brushes and products I thought I’d use, but we were walking around and being all tourist-y the whole time. There was no point in getting all gussied up!
Today I decided I wanted to try a pink eye look. It turned out to be a dusty rose/bronze look that I think works well for the transition from winter to spring! Continue reading
It’s 9:08 p.m on a Friday night. If I was 24 again I’d still be an hour away from heading out the door for a night of bar hopping with my girlfriends.
I’ll be 31 in three weeks. It’s now 9:11 p.m. I don’t know why it took me three – 9:12 p.m – four minutes to type what I’ve typed so far. I really need to get better at this blogging thing! Friday nights for 30 year old Nikki means a glass *cough* bottle *cough* of Chardonnay, a Modern Family marathon and diving into my latest and greatest haul!
MAC Alluring Aquatic Summer Collection 2014
Oh, how I wish I was one of those beauty guru bloggers who get early releases of these fabulous products to swatch and review for us consumers. I woke up this morning and learned that MAC is releasing their Alluring Aquatic collection on May 15th at maccosmetics.com and will be available for purchase in store on May 22nd. Let’s dive into a few photos. Shall we?
Guys. Red lipstick. Omg. Why have I been so frightened to embark on this wonderful and glorious shade?
I got my Mac Viva Glam 1 lipstick in the mail and I am absolutely head over heals in love with it. It’s perfect for my skin tone. Not too light. Not too dark. It’s a gorgeous and classic brick red with just the right amount of pigmentation. The one and only downside with the product is the dryness. If you don’t like dry lips (who does?) put a light coat of your favorite lip balm underneath. I personally use EOS in melon flavor and it works great. If you’d rather top off your matte lip shade with a lip gloss for a more fierce look, do it up! I, unfortunately, do not have a photo to share but the next time I get dolled up with that beastly color, I’ll be sure to take a few snapshots! 😉 Continue reading
